The Jewellery Industry Registration Board of New Zealand JIRBNZ is an incorporated society that has been formed to represent the Jewellery Industry in New Zealand as a whole (see about us)

The JIRBNZ holds and maintains the current list of all that are Registered as Industry Certified as Tradesman Manufacturing Jewellers, Tradesman Watch and Clockmakers, Tradesman Gem Setters and Tradesman Hand Engravers on the Registered Manufacturing Jewellers and Watch and Clockmakers page.

As an organisation representing jewellery industry training, the Jewellery Industry Registration Board of New Zealand is grateful to all their sponsors. Examples of the various sponsorships available can be found on our sponsors page.

JWNZ Trade Fair 2024

The JWNZ Trade Fair is to be held TBA at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS), 181 Westhaven Drive, Westhaven Marina, Auckland 1011.

JIRBNZ Trade Certificate Examination - Manufacturing Jewellery (MFJ) and Watch and Clock Making (WC) - TBA

Trade Certified Masters Certificate in Manufacturing Jewellery and Watch and Clockmaking to be recognised

Masters defined in Masters and apprenticeship Act. AN ACT to Consolidate the Law relating to Title.

Masters Trade Certificate will be issued someone who has fulfilled their duties as stated in the

Master and Apprentices act of 1865. / Defence Act 1990

The word "master" in this Act shall mean whom any who shall be bound apprentice by indenture.

The Master will, teach the apprentice in the trade of, and all and everything relating to it according to the best of the power, skill, and knowledge under the master’s command.

Application –

  1. The first prerequisite is that the applicant holds their Trade Certificate as a Qualified Manufacturing Jeweler or Watch and Clockmaker. The open to the public register can be found here at http://www.jirbnz.org.nz/jewellers.html
  2. The second is have satisfied the wording above as to a Masters commitment and having successfully taken an apprentice through an apprenticeship in its entirety to where the apprentice has been awarded their Trade Certification.
